Dave Nicholson is a landscape photographer from Victoria, BC who has had a love for photography since he was a young man living in Scotland. His passion continued into adulthood in Canada - from whimsical snow photos to stunning sunsets, his enthusiasm shines through.
Dave’s innate knowledge of lighting and composition, as well as his cutting-edge post-production techniques, allow him to catch the essence of the moment. Dave's photographs often appear in local tourism publications and his work can be seen displayed in local establishments.
Born in Vancouver, BC and educated in Scotland, Dave lived in Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories on his return to Canada before moving to beautiful Victoria on Vancouver Island. He is rarely seen without his camera, whether on the beach or going for a Saturday stroll with his wife Wilma and wee dog Hamish.
Dave sells his work through an online shop hosted by a small business called Hamsterheid (pronounced Hamster-heed) Productions which is owned by his wife.
Over the years, Dave and his wife had often talked about starting up a small business. One night, while sitting in front of a lovely fire watching some music videos, they came across a great Scottish tribal drum and pipe band called Clanadonia. They were playing a tune called Hamsterheid... they looked at each other, grinned and almost simultaneously said "That's it - that's what we'll call the business!" and that is how Hamsterheid Productions was born in the early months of 2019 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. As the artistic one in the family, Dave set upon creating the quirky logo, and the business was went into action on August 1, 2019.
This is why you will often see the Hamsterheid Productions logo when you see Dave's work.
